World Cup 2019: Do or die situation for Bangladesh for semis spot

Birmingham: India and Bangladesh will square-off in a crucial World Cup 2019 encounter when they meet at Edbaston, Birmingham Today.

India, whose unbeaten run was brought to a halt by a resurgent England in their last match at the same ground two days ago, need just one win in their next 2 matches to seal a semi-final spot. Their opponents on Tuesday however, can’t settle for anything less than a win in the couple of games remaining to have a shot at making it to the last-4.

Last time, these 2 sides met in the World Cup, India thrashed Bangladesh by 109 runs at the MCG. In 2011 however, Virender Sehwag and Virat Kohli hit twin centuries to exact sweet revenge.

This will be the 1st time that the 2 sides will face each other in ODIs after the thrilling final of the Asia Cup in 2018 when India just managed to scrape past their opponents in a low-scoring game.

Mashrafe Mortaza’s men will also know that India have a few weaknesses that can be exploited, for instance their fragile looking middle-order which came a cropper against England in the last match. With Dhoni and Kedar struggling for form and the uncertainty regarding India’s No. 4 position, Bangladesh already have some homework to do before they take the field on Tuesday.

An in-form Shakib Al Hasan, some quality performers in Mahmudullah Riyad and Tamim Iqbal and a skipper in Mashrafe Mortaza who believes in leading from the front. Not to forget the talented Mustafizur Rahman.
