New Delhi: Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday said that he lacks seniority to be a prime ministerial candidate for the BJP.
Amit Shah said he is very junior for the prime ministerial post and there are many senior leaders ahead of him for the supreme post.
In response to a question raised by a member of the audience, the home minister said, “I am very junior for the post of prime minister. There are many senior leaders ahead of me. I am not in the race. Decisions in our party are not taken by individuals, but by the party.”
Talking about students across India protesting against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act, Amit Shah said students haven’t read the Act carefully, hence are being misled.
The home minister also alleged that opposition parties in India have mislead the people.
Amit Shah’s comment came two days after the national capital turned violent soon after fresh protests erupted in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar over the newly-amended citizenship act.
