Mumbai: Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan is on a roll. After bagging films like the Pati Patni Aur Woh remake and Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal 2, he has been roped in as the lead for the sequel to the 2007 horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiya, produced by Bhushan Kumar.
A source confirmed, “While the makers have locked the idea, the script is still to be finalised. But the idea was shared with Kartik who liked it and has agreed to take the franchise forward with the story set in a metropolis.”
The source added, “The director will be locked in a few days, following which they will decide on the leading lady and the rest of the cast. Bhushan always wanted to continue with Bhool Bhulaiyaa and is invested in the film. He expects to start filming by the end of the year.”
Apart from Bhool Bhulaiya 2, Kumar is already remaking some of the classics of the past. The production house is remaking BR Chopra’s 1978 drama Pati Patni Aur Woh starring Kartik Aaryan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ananya Panday and Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s 1975 comedy Chupke Chupke, in which Rajkummar Rao will reprise Dharmendra’s role.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa starred Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiny Ahuja. It was a remake of the Malayalam horror film Manichitrathazu.
Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan has just wrapped up Imtiaz Ali’s film with Sara Ali Khan. He has also bagged Dostana 2 with Jahnvi Kapoor.
Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan starrer romace-drama film, which does not have an official title yet and is being largely addressed as a sequel to Imtiaz Ali’s film Love Aaj Kal (2009), has wrapped up shoot.
The yet untitled film is scheduled to release on February 14, 2020 and will bring the pairing of Kartik and Sara on-screen for the first time.
