Mumbai: Bollywood actress Kiara Advani, who is riding high on the success of her last film Kabir Singh, will now be seen in Indu Ki Jawani, which is a coming-of-age comedy.
The actress is excited about the film, in which she plays the lead role of Indu Gupta, a feisty girl from Ghaziabad. “It’s very early to talk about it, but it’s a coming of age story. It is really exciting and relevant because the story is set in today’s time. It’s a very lovable character. It’s hilarious and I am quite excited to start the film,” she gushes.
Kiara also responded to reports that the film has got to do something with a dating app: “It is not about dating apps, but a dating app is one of the catalysts in the film. I can’t reveal much about my character at this point of time. But I can assure you all that I will be seen in a completely different shade in this film.”
In 2018, Advani appeared in the Netflix anthology film Lust Stories, and made her Telugu debut with the political drama Bharat Ane Nenu, which ranks among the highest-grossing Telugu films. Advani appeared in a music album titled Urvashi, sung by Yo Yo Honey Singh, opposite Shahid Kapoor. Advani then returned to Bollywood by appearing as Lajjo, a courtesan, in a song “First Class” of Abhishek Varman’s period drama Kalank, which also fared poorly at the box office.
Kiara has four upcoming projects. She will star in Raj Mehta’s directorial debut Good News a comedy about surrogacy co-starring Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh and team with Kumar in Raghava Lawrence’s horror comedy Laxmmi Bomb a remake of the 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana. She will also play the real-life character of Dimple Cheema opposite Sidharth Malhotra in Vishnuvardhan’s Shershaah a biopic based on Vikram Batra.
